The Apprentice Academy launches campaign to #BeWorkReady
Manchester’s The Apprentice Academy has launched a campaign to prepare young people for the world of work by helping them to be ‘work ready’.
The campaign called ‘#BeWorkReady’ will offer young people and employer’s advice, information and support to ease the transition from education to employment.
The launch coincides with National Apprenticeship Week, which runs from 9th to 13th March and aims to address the various issues and concerns related to work readiness.
In 2014, a survey of 3000 companies by the British Chamber of Commerce found that nine out of 10 businesses thought school leavers were ‘not ready for employment’ – with 50% saying they did not have even basic skills such as communication1.
Alison Bagnall, MD at The Apprentice Academy says: “Making the transition from school to work is one of the hardest moves we ever make, and poses a number of challenges, particularly with the young person-employer skills gap. Our campaign will introduce a number of initiatives to address many of the issues and help bridge this gap.
“Developing future talent is our passion and we want to encourage everyone to take a more active role in preparing the next generation for the workplace, and preparing the workplace for a new modern workforce.”
#BeWorkReady will cover a range of topics and themes from engaging with young people, soft skills and teamwork to tips from experts on make-up and how to make a great first impression. The campaign will launch on Monday 9th March to coincide with National Apprenticeship Week, and run until July.
The Apprentice Academy is taking part in a number of other activities to support National Apprenticeship Week including a job swap at clients’ Brother UK and at advertising agency, Delineo, where the company’s directors are swapping roles with their apprentices for the day.
