Charging up for charity
Sunderland electric car charging firm will be powering up their adrenaline, to raise money for the Stroke Association.
Staff from ELM Electric Vehicle Charging Solutions, will be zip sliding nearly 1000ft over the River Tyne, from the Baltic Centre of Contemporary Arts in Gateshead, on Saturday 14 March 2015.
Raising vital funds for stroke survivors and their families, the charity is close to Marketing Executive, Lyndsey’s heart.
Lyndsey said: “My Nana had a stroke and I want to raise as much money as possible for the charity. It will also be a great team building activity for ELM EV.”
The Stroke Association aims to change the lives of people affected by stroke and reduce the number of people who are struck down by this devastating condition.
Janet Price, Community and Events Fundraising Manager at the Stroke Association, said: “The Zip the Tyne Line is one of our most daring and exciting events of the year and promises to be an experience the ELM EV team won’t forget!
“With 152,000 strokes a year in the UK – that’s around one every three and a half minutes - it is vital that we have people who can raise funds for people affected by stroke. We’re extremely grateful to the team for taking part in the zip slide. The money raised will fund vital research and support, as well as help to prevent people from having a stroke; together we can conquer stroke.”
Director, Suzie Guest and EV Manager, Gemma Hall will also be taking part. The three have raised over £500 so far for the charity and have admitted it will be a challenge but for a worthy cause.
Suzie said, “As a company, we believe it is important to raise money for charity and also enjoy get involved in community events, promoting charities further. We actively participate in charity days within the office and hope to take part in more events in the future.”
