How businesses can benefit from apprentices to be discussed at breakfast even
Business leaders in North Wales will have the opportunity to hear from two organisations about how recruiting apprentices helped to develop and grow their businesses.
Gavin Jones, early careers manager at aircraft manufacturer Airbus, and Christopher Grice, director of web design agency Tree Frog Creative, will be speaking at a joint Institute of Directors (IoD) and North Wales Business Club event.
Mr Jones will explain how apprentices at Airbus are fundamental to the day-to-day operations at its North Wales base, as well internationally.
Mr Grice, a finalist in the Small Employer of the Year category at Apprenticeship Awards Cymru 2014, will discuss the role his apprentices played in helping the firm achieve 50 per cent growth year-on-year since being founded in 2011.
Andrew Clark, deputy director of the Further Education Division at the Welsh Government, will also be on hand to offer more information on how businesses can access support to assist in the recruitment of apprentices.
The free breakfast networking event will take place at The Quay Hotel and Spa in Deganwy on Friday 27 March from 8am to 9.30am.
IoD North Wales chair Helen Watson said: “Delivering the vision of a skilled workforce and stemming the tide of youth unemployment is a hot topic.
“There are some incredible success stories of businesses who have benefited from recruiting apprentices.
“It’s fantastic to have secured speakers from two organisations in the region who have experienced success with help from their apprentices.
The IoD is the longest-standing organisation to serve and support business leaders, with more than 100 years of service in raising professional standards. You don’t need to be a company director to join the IoD. Senior managers are welcome from large public organisations to small family firms.
Members benefit from services including free business advice, a full training programme, research facilities and networking events.
Places are limited and guests are asked to confirm their place by Friday 20 March. It is open to members and non-members.
To book, contact Debbie Trotman on 02920 389 990 or email iod.wales@iod.com
