Knight Frank appointed on Live Works project

Knight Frank appointed on Live Works project Knight Frank has been appointed letting agent on Live Theatre’s prestigious, Flanagan Lawrence designed, Live Works development on Newcastle’s Quayside, the first new speculative office scheme to start on Newcastle’s Quayside for over seven years.

The £10 million capital scheme by Live Theatre has involved the purchase of Quayside frontage and land and buildings adjacent to the theatre to create new income streams for Live Theatre. These will be realised by a 14,000 sq ft of new office space, a new public park and a children and young people’s writing centre.

Patrick Matheson, partner, office agency at Knight Frank says: “We are incredibly excited to be involved in such a superb development, It will deliver highly desirable premium office space with terraces offering river views to the south and equally stunning views to the north over the new courtyard and on towards the historic Trinity Chare and Trinity Church. The office space, which will be ready for occupation later this year, is being finished to the very highest standard and the interior styles, finishes and lighting will reflect the Live Works cultural roots and will offer exceptional space for business. Live Works will offer suites from 1,234 sq ft but could also make a fabulous self-contained headquarters building.”

Jim Beirne, Chief Executive, Live Theatre, says: “As well as new build offices there will be a public landscaped garden at the centre of the site with public pedestrian access from the Quayside and a public and performance space managed and programmed by Live Theatre. Part of the project includes the refurbishment of a Grade II listed Almshouse into a children and young people’s writing centre – the only one of its kind in the north of England.”

Mr Beirne adds: “We are delighted to have appointed Knight Frank to market Live Works, offering an exciting opportunity for businesses to re-locate to what is becoming an exciting creative and cultural quarter of the city.

“Already a leader in the field of cultural entrepreneurship, Live Theatre has developed new strategies for increasing income and assets for the charity demonstrating future thinking on new models of business sustainability and growth.
