Co-operative Travel Management rebrands as Clarity

Co-operative Travel Management is relaunching with a new identity as Clarity Travel Management.

Following its sale to the Middle East-based Mawasem Travel & Tourism Ltd in 2014, the business is now removing ties to its former parent group.

Clarity Travel Management, headquartered in Manchester, will be led by chief executive Pat McDonagh as it carves a new identity in the business travel sector.

With the rebrand, comes a £500k investment in cutting edge technology and software.

Pat McDonagh, Chief Executive of Clarity, said: “Clarity will have many similarities to the Co-op, we are a co-operative business at our core and will always be people focused. However, this is a great opportunity to do things differently.

“Heritage isn’t what wins you new business and makes clients want to work with you. It’s about having the best tech, the best pricing and the best people.

“We have invested heavily to improve our proposition and be the best at what we do in preparation for the launch of the new brand.

“With Clarity, we are providing a clear service to clients, clear on costing and everything we do. Clients know they can trust us.

“The reality of business travel isn’t just someone in a suit wheeling a suitcase through an airport or turning left when they get on a plane.

“We pride ourselves in providing a tailored, personal service to a really broad range of clients who all have different requirements.

“While we have many clients who are accountants and solicitors, our clients can also be construction companies, who need a daybed for someone who is working on site all night, or who need a car park with a certain height clearance to let them park a truck; they can be healthcare workers who are travelling to attend to patients or they can be university workers on lecture tours or doing research in the field.

“These all bring different sets of requirements, so one size doesn’t fit all, even within the same organisation.”

Clarity plans a ‘disruptive’ approach to the business travel sector, building on its already diverse business client base that covers sectors from corporate, sports businesses and charities, to construction firms and education establishments.

Clarity Travel Management employs 230 people across the UK and has a client list of more than 1,000 organisations spread across the corporate, not-for profit and education sectors that includes AMEY, Macmillan Cancer Care and the NSPCC.

The company turns over more than £130m annually.

Co-operative Travel Management was in existence since 2006, and was run as a joint venture with Thomas Cook from 2011 before its sale last year.
