£21m of homes sold by Ewemove in 2014

Homes in York, with a total value of more than £21.6m, have been sold by estate agent, Ewemove, since the business opened its first franchise in the city a year ago.

The highest sale above asking price achieved by Ewemove, which now has two franchises in the city, was 117 per cent by agreeing a sale for £234,000 on a two-bedroom terraced house in York city centre, with a guide price of £200,000.

The fastest house rental was a three-bedroom bungalow in Wilberfoss, which was advertised at 9.15am and let at 6.30pm the same day in October last year.

Branch director Nick Neill, who launched the first Ewemove franchise in York in March 2014 with his wife Sarah, says: “We averaged 13 viewers per property on homes which we sold in 2014 and overall we delivered 102.7 per cent of guide valuation, for those sold at or above asking price.

“In total, in a steadily growing market, we achieved sale prices of 99.6 per cent of initial asking prices with 60 per cent of homes sold at, or above, the original valuation.

“Our greatest success was selling, at a higher price, in only 10 days, a property which had been on the market with another estate agent for 53 weeks. We are delighted that, from a standing start, we are becoming tried and trusted by a growing number of home sellers and landlords who want to try our different approach.”

Now Ewemove, which last year nationally gained a Silver award for Best Newcomer at The Estate Agency of the Year Awards 2014 in London, plans to expand the business into other locations across North Yorkshire in 2015.
