York Coffee Emporium awarded special blend contract for Burnby Hall café

Independent artisan coffee roaster, York Coffee Emporium, has been awarded a contract to create and supply a specially-blended coffee to a cafe based in one of East Yorkshire’s most popular tourist destinations.

The Lilypad Café, located in Burnby Hall Gardens and Museum, Pocklington, ordered the new blend of coffee to offer a more matured taste to the tourist venue’s 60,000 annual visitors.

York Coffee Emporium, which has seen a turnover of £11k to almost £500k since the distributor’s partner, Laurence Beardmore, took over the business with his wife in 2011, specialises in importing, hand-roasts and blends coffees from around the world.

As well as Lilypad Café, manager Annette Blanchard has also requested the same blend of coffee for the Fresh Food Deli and Coffee Bar, Market Place, Pocklington, which welcomes 150 customers a day since opening 15 years ago.

Mrs Blanchard, who took over the Lilypad Café franchise three years ago, said: “A national café chain has opened not far from Fresh Food Deli and Coffee Bar. I chose to work with York Coffee Emporium so we offer more exciting and enjoyable coffees that complement with our overall offer as it has become a connoisseurs’ drink that people really savour.

“I had been serving the same Italian coffee for 10 years and it was time for a change. York Coffee Emporium has created the same blend for Lilypad Café as I want people to identify it with my businesses and know what to expect when they visit.

“From a business perspective, York Coffee Emporium provides sellers with excellent point of sales materials to enable us to promote their coffees and share in their success which is very useful.”
