The stage is set for North Yorkshire creative firm
A North Yorkshire creative construction and manufacturing company has been praised by Government for nurturing future talent as the industry reports record-breaking spend on UK film production.
The Business is GREAT campaign, run by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, has been celebrating a monumental year for British creative industries, which last year saw an overall spend of £1.47 billion on film production in the UK, a 35 per cent increase on the previous year and the highest since records began.
According to research from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport the growth within the creative industries now accounts for 1.71 million jobs, the equivalent of one in 18 jobs.
The campaign has praised the work of Tockwith-based Stage One, which is one of the small businesses fuelling the creative industry and developing the next generation of young talent.
Best known for creating the Cauldron for the London 2012 Olympics, Stage One has been involved in the Olympic Games ceremonies since Athens in 2004.
The business has also worked within film and television, and constructed the set for the Sports Personality of the Year Awards for the last three years as well as the Eurovision Song Contest and MTV Music Awards.
Mark Johnson, managing director of Stage One, said: “Our people are the heart of our business, and developing a talented workforce is essential for us to continue to grow and play a key role in the success of the British creative industries.
“We are delighted to be part of the Business is GREAT campaign to celebrate this.”
