Ambix team strike gold at SXSW HATCHPitch contest
The team behind the Ambix social intranet, Stockton-based tech startup JDrew Creations, has returned triumphant from the SXSW Interactive festival in Austin, Texas, with a fistful of dollars to show for success in the prestigious HATCH Pitch contest.
As one of twelve finalists chosen from hundreds of applicants world wide, Ambix was in exclusive company at the competition, which saw up-and-coming enterprises pitch to a fifteen-strong panel of judges from firms including TechStars, Microsoft Ventures, Amazon, and Intel Capital.
Ambix walked away with the Social Favourite award, while top accolades went to Admetsys (developers of an artifical pancreas for hospitalised patients), Astroprint (universal 3D printing operating system) and Plum (remote light control).
Sponsors including Rackspace, Foundersuite, Microsoft, Zendesk, and Entrepreneurs RoundTable delivered stellar prizes for the successful Ambix team including hosting, software, the chance to join the ERA NYC accelerator, and US office space, valued at over $40,000.
Director Kate Baucherel said, “SXSW was an extraordinary experience: the reaction to Ambix was overwhelmingly positive, and the combination of sales enquiries, financial support, and a springboard to US trade has accelerated our expansion plans”.
The Ambix team received practical and financial support from UK Trade and Investment for this trip, including the chance to meet industry influencers at UKTI events in Austin, which may lead to yet more business for the Stockton startup.
