Datashredders announce acquisition of UK’s first AXO double shredder
Cambridgeshire-based shredding company Datashredders have become the first in the UK industry to invest in the state-of-the-art AXO FATSO 704-22/512-16 double shredder, it has been announced.
In addition to paper documentation, the double shredding machine is able to shred electronics such as laptops, hard drives, flash drives and data discs, as well as plastic, cardboard and many other materials. Whilst regular industrial shredding machines only push the material through one set of 16mm shafts, the FATSO initially uses a set of 22mm shafts before then pushing the material down for further shredding through 16mm shafts. The end result is paper, plastics or electronics shredded into pieces of around 8mm - much smaller than those one would get from a conventional shredder - rendering clients’ confidential information impossible for fraudsters, identity thieves and rivals to retrieve.
The AXO FATSO aims to maximise throughput whilst minimising energy use and repair time, with the machine’s 40% additional knife-tip force meaning less driving power is needed, and the frequency of machine maintenance checks reduced to once per year. AXO are an established market-leading manufacturer of shredding equipment, and have also recently struck a deal with Datashredders for use of AXO’s electric mobile shredding trucks.
Datashredders’ marketing manager, Kate Hurn, said of the acquisition: “this machine is a huge step forward in the development of secure shredding equipment. This substantial investment shows Datashredders’ commitment to client security as it not only meets the requirements of the BS EN 15713:2009 certification, but exceeds them.”
Datashredders provide domestic and commercial shredding services to clients throughout the UK.
