Future of UK economy under spotlight at IoD lunch
A leading economist and policy director will be discussing the future direction of the UK economy at an upcoming Institute of Directors (IoD) event in Bangor.
James Sproule, chief economist and director of policy at the IoD is the guest speaker at its North Wales Spring Business Leaders lunch when he will consider ’The UK Economy – ‘Where do we go from here?’
Prior to joining the IoD in 2014, James led Accenture’s UK research and global capital markets research, where he focused on thought leadership. He began his financial career as a merchant bank economist working with the Bankers Trust, Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Kleinwort, eventually helping to found the boutique bank Augusta and Company.
James, who was a signals officer in the Royal Navy, stood for Parliament in the 2005 general election and has lectured and written on a broad range of subjects.
The lunch event will take place at The Management Centre, Bangor University, on Monday April 13 from 12noon. Demand for the event is expected to be high, and attendees are asked to book tickets, priced at £15 plus VAT per person, to avoid disappointment.
IoD North Wales chair Helen Watson (pictured) said: “This event is likely to prove very popular as many people will be keen to hear the views of a leading economist with the wealth of experience that James has.
“As we recover from one of the worst recessions in modern history and are on the brink of a general election, the decision over which paths to take to develop our economy has never been so important.”
The IoD is the longest-standing organisation to serve and support business leaders, with more than 100 years of service in raising professional standards. You don’t need to be a company director to join the IoD. Senior managers are welcome from large public organisations to small family firms.
Members benefit from services including free business advice, a full training programme, research facilities and networking events.
The event is open to members and non-members. To book, contact Debbie Trotman on 02920 389 990 or email iod.wales@iod.com.
