Harry Ramsden’s makes West Yorkshire return with opening of Shipley restaurant
Shipley’s hospitality industry has just received a boost after the opening of a new Harry Ramsden’s restaurant with funding support from NatWest.
JVP Ventures, the franchisees who partnered with the famous fish and chip brand after selling its famous Guiseley restaurant and takeaway to Wetherby Whaler in 2013, is hoping to open around 50 outlets throughout Yorkshire in the coming months with the venue on Wrose Road being the first.
Although there are Harry Ramsden’s in Scarborough and at Woodall services on the M1 in South Yorkshire, the Shipley restaurant will mark the return of the fish and chip brand to West Yorkshire.
The new 1,000 sq ft premises opened its doors on Monday, March 30.
Shashi Patel, of JVP Ventures, said: “Harry Ramsden’s is fantastic brand which serves up quality products that customers enjoy. It’s traditional fish and chips at its best and we are delighted to be bringing the brand to Shipley.”
Additional restaurants are set to open in Huddersfield and Sheffield in the next several months.
To acquire funding for the Shipley branch, Shashi received help from NatWest senior relationship manager Tom Smith. Tom, who specialises in supporting businesses in the leisure sector, was able to give Shasi a six-figure loan as part of the bank’s association with the government-backed Funding For Lending programme.
Shashi added: “Tom was very good to work with. He provided specialist support which is what we needed with the opening of the new franchise.”
Tom also commented: “I was delighted to support JVP Ventures with its opening of Harry Ramsden’s in Shipley. It’s a fantastic business offering a much-loved product and I wish the business every success for the future.”
