Southdale boosts Yorkshire supply chain after securing £10.5m contracts
After securing £10.5 of new contracts, Southdale, a construction and development specialist firm, will now look to expand its Yorkshire supply chain as well as create new jobs and apprenticeships.
The Halifax-based company, which provides newbuild, planned maintenance and refurbishment services, is now tasked with the construction of more than 100 homes in South and West Yorkshire.
The work includes 87 homes for Great Places Housing Trust in two phases of building at Maltravers Way, Sheffield. This project is due to begin in April and be completed by July 2016.
And an additional 20 houses at Prince Street, Bradford, for Home Group, which are expected to be completely built by January 2016.
Stuart Allison, the managing director of Southdale for Yorkshire, said: “These contracts will not only create work for our own Yorkshire-based team, but will significantly filter into the local supply chains in the Bradford and Sheffield markets.
“These projects will not only create homes for people to live in, they will create opportunities and jobs, including apprenticeship opportunities, in and around the cities, as we use almost exclusively local supply chain companies and labour.
“This work represents part of a strong start to 2015 for Southdale in Yorkshire and is something upon which we are looking to build over the coming months.”
