Athletes Celebrate Victory at Appleyard Lees Junnior Open

Six promising sports stars are celebrating being crowned champions of the Appleyard Lees Junior Open Squash tournament, following their outstanding performance on the court.

The prestigious event, held at Queens Sports Club in Moorlands View, welcomed over fifty of the country’s leading junior squash players to compete for the winning titles.

The tournament, sponsored by IP specialists, Appleyard Lees, which has offices in Halifax, Leeds and Manchester, is recognised as one of the key events in the junior squash calendar and saw gifted athletes go head-to-head across six groups defined by age and gender.

Already in its fourth year, the event welcomed spectators from far and wide to watch the momentous occasion. After entertaining the crowd during a series of competitive matches, six triumphant stars battled to victory to take home the acclaimed trophies.

The tournament winners were as follows: • Zac Toes (Boys U13) • Rayan Haq (Boys U15) • Harry Anderson (Boys U17) • Isaac Rawcliffe (Boys U19) • Amber Copley (Girls U15) • Poppy Jaram (Girls U17)

Squash professional at Queens Sports Club, David Hymas, said: “Youngsters from across the country always look forward to competing in the Appleyard Lees Junior Open as there are many categories that they enter in.

“The turn out on the day was great and to have a renowned firm such as Appleyard Lees on board is an incredible honour.”

Partner, Paul Brandon from Appleyard Lees was in attendance to present the young sporting elites with their awards.

Paul Brandon commented: “The highly anticipated event was a fantastic success and I was delighted to be able to award the winners with their prizes.”

“We have a long affiliation with the Junior Squash tournament and supporting the local community is an integral part of the Appleyard Lees operation and we certainly look forward to working with Queens Sports Club again next year.”
