Sunshine Ahead as Jet2holidays Hits Height of One Million Bookings This Year

Over 200,000 customers have jetted off from Leeds Bradford Airport in last 12 months

31st March 2015 – Package holiday specialist, Jet2holidays, is today celebrating its one millionth booking in this financial year – the first time the company has hit this milestone in a 12 month period.

This morning passengers at Leeds Bradford Airport were treated to ‘One in a Million’ cupcakes being handed out by Miss Leeds and spot prizes to mark the occasion, coinciding with the millionth customer boarding a plane to The Algarve from Manchester Airport, having been told his holiday was now completely free of charge.

Since its launch in February 2007 the package holiday specialist has grown to become the UK’s third largest tour operator, offering great value sun and city breaks to over 50 destinations from seven UK bases. Almost 210,000 Jet2holidays customers have departed from Leeds Bradford in the past 12 months, with a total of more than 630,000 over the last seven years. Overall, nearly three million passengers have travelled with the company from across the North.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “To hit the millionth booking mark for this financial year is a fantastic achievement for us. All our airports have been joining in the celebrations, making it a day to remember for all our customers travelling today, surprising them with free holiday upgrades and champagne.

“We work hard to create memorable package breaks that people can trust so it’s great to see more and more people booking with us year after year. We’re really proud of the fantastic range of destinations we offer, and it’s growing every year, offering everything from relaxing weeks on a beach to bustling city breaks. We look forward to well and truly beating the one million figure next year!”

Claire Haigh from Bishop Auckland, who received a complimentary upgrade to all inclusive for her and the family, said: “How fantastic, what a great morning. We’re actually heading off to celebrate my 40th birthday, so we can really celebrate in style now and have even more fun! Thank you Jet2holidays.”

Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford Airport’s Aviation Development Director, commented: “Leeds Bradford congratulate Jet2holidays on reaching their 1 millionth passenger milestone. We are proud that passengers are supporting Jet2holidays which is the region’s largest tour operator. We now look forward to the continued growth and development of new destinations from LBA, providing even greater holiday choice in 2016.”
