Kier Group set for move to new Yorkshire HQ
Kier Group, one of the UK’s leading property and construction firm’s, is set to move into its new 8,500 sq ft regional headquarters in Leeds next month.
The firm, which is currently developing and building the new Grade A 110,000 sq ft Sovereign Square development in Leeds, has seen significant growth within the region over the last year.
The move from the firm’s old HQ in Boston Spa to Thorpe Park in Leeds was instigated by this growth, as well as the appointment of a new managing director for the North.
The new 8,500 sq ft offices will accommodate Kier’s Construction, Living and Property divisions, with room for expansion and new members of staff as the firm recruits to support its continued growth in Yorkshire.
Managing director John O’Callaghan, who was born in the county and has over 30 years experience in the construction industry, will head the 1,000-strong regional team.
Over the last ten years Kier, which works on projects ranging in any scale from £500,000 up to £100m, has already developed an array of public and private sector schemes across Yorkshire.
The firm’s current focus is the Grade A office building at 3 Sovereign Square in Leeds, being delivered in partnership with joint developer Bruntwood, which is due to be completed in summer 2016.
John O’Callaghan, managing director of Kier Construction in the North, said: “The public sector has remained active throughout the recession as it is critical to deliver core services in sectors like education and health, and we will continue to be a leading provider of public sector projects.
“But the commercial market had been heavily subdued. Now once again there is a clear appetite and confidence to invest and build across the retail, office and industrial markets, and as a delivery partner of choice we are signalling our ability to support our clients with our new expanded office and integrated Kier presence in the city.”
Kier Group, which employs approximately over 15,000 people worldwide, recorded turnover of £3bn in the last financial year.
