Doncaster Sheffield Airport announce 10th Wizz Air route

To celebrate their tenth year anniversary this month, Doncaster Sheffield Airport have announced that Wizz Air are adding a new route to make it ten destinations on the ultra-low-cost carrier from the airport.

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, also announced today the opening of its 21st base in Lublin (Poland) with one new Airbus A320 later this year.

Operating on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from September 15, the new three times weekly flights from doncaster to Lublin will start with lead in fares £15.49 one way.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport is Wizz Air’s only base in Yorkshire, and its second largest in the UK. The airport currently operates 33 Wizz Air flights per week to eight destinations including Bucharest in Romania, and Gdansk, Warsaw and Wroclaw in Poland.

In addition, a new route to Kosice was announced in January and Lublin will become Doncaster Sheffield Airport’s tenth Wizz Air route, after the launching of Riga and Bucharest in 2014.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “This is fantastic news and a great way to start our 10th birthday celebrations. We are delighted that Wizz are further expanding their offering to Yorkshire passengers with this new route.

“With the new Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS) on track to connect the M18 to the airport, we believe demand in European destinations will continue to increase.

“Our relationship with Wizz goes from strength to strength and we look forward to working with them to provide an even wider range of locations for people to visit.”
