The Botanist to open Roof Garden after record-breaking period

Leisure operator The New World Trading Company, has announced its latest Newcastle venture, The Botanist, will be opening its Roof Garden this Easter weekend.

The Botanist, which saw 10,000 diners through its doors in December, is set across the top two floors of the Monument Mall development.

The bar and restaurant venue created a total of 100 new jobs in the region, which has been further boosted by this latest investment.

The 1,500 sq ft Roof Garden, which will offer a full-service bar and seating for up to 120 people, boasts a unique birds-eye view of the city’s Grey’s Monument and Grey Street.

Designed by Manchester-based Paul Danson Imagineering, features include secluded pagodas, tool sheds and a partially-enclosed area where the roof is made of yacht sailcloth.

The Botanist Newcastle business development manager Paul Burns said: “We can’t wait to welcome our first set of drinkers and diners to the stunning Roof Garden this Easter. The opening comes at a perfect time of year when the cold weather is starting to ease and people are enjoying their Bank Holiday weekend.”

Stephen Patterson, director of communications at the Business Improvement District for Newcastle City Centre, Newcastle NE1, said: “This announcement from The Botanist rounds off a fast-paced and exciting first quarter of the year for the city centre’s hospitality and leisure scene.

“It’s also great news that the team at The Botanist has seen its numbers grow with the addition of ten staff as a result of the brand new Roof Garden. We have no doubt that the spot will become a hive of activity and atmosphere overlooking what is the ever-improving landscape of our city.”
