Leading Sports Charity Makes £4k from Race Day
The Lord’s Taverners recently held its second ‘race day’ event at Newcastle Racecourse which was a great success, raising around £4k thanks to the generosity of those who attended, especially the companies who so kindly sponsored the seven races.
The Lord’s Taverners is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity dedicated to giving disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance.
Regional chair, Jamie Graham, commented: “We were very pleased to see a bigger turnout than last year and we are hoping it will become a regular date on the corporate calendar like the Lord’s Taverners Christmas lunch is here in the northeast where we regularly raise over £30k.
“We were all well looked after by the racecourse staff who had arranged for the Lord’s Taverners distinctive striped branding to be sprayed onto the grass with sets of cricket stumps on show in the parade ring to mark the occasion, which was a really nice touch.”
