Twitter is taking on Meerkat for Periscope's survival
Twitter is going all around to put life in its acquisition Periscope, which is pretty similar to Meerkat. We know Meerkat is one of the first few live streaming applications. However, with Periscope coming into the spectrum, Twitter is contacting celebrities and publishers to switch from Meerkat to Periscope, convincing them that Meerkat will be out of business soon and Periscope is what they should go for. Twitter is trying everything to help its app, contacting media companies, implicitly revealing, if they won’t be using Periscope exclusively, their access to Amplify could be cut off. Amplify is a product that is used by media companies in collaboration with brands to design promoted tweets, revolving around video clips. This gives a boost to media companies, as well as brands sponsoring it. Well it’s not only Twitter, trying to contact stars. Few sources tell that Meerkat is also doing the same but by tapping on celebrities from Vine. The moves by Twitter and Meerkat elucidates the acute level of competition amongst the two apps, apparently telling the world how similar the two apps are! It’s not too much of a surprise, seeing Twitter trying to axe Meerkat as we have already seen Twitter doing so in the case of DataSift and NTT.
