Leading green tech manufacturer secures prestigious top 100 spot

EMSc (UK) Ltd, manufacturer of the Powerstar range of voltage optimisation systems, is pleased to announce it has been named amongst Yorkshire’s top 100 SMEs for 2015.

The Sheffield-based firm placed 56th on the BHP list of Yorkshire’s top SMEs, is also in the top 15 manufacturing firms on the list. The high placements come as a direct result of increased investment in the company’s cutting-edge research and development (R&D) programme.

Since moving to the company’s current manufacturing facility and office premises nearly two years ago, employee numbers have increased by over 11%, manufacturing output has increased by 20% and investment in R&D has increased by 18%. Turnover in 2014 also increased by 9%.

EMSc is not however, resting on any laurels, as 2015 is already turning out to be an exciting year, with the company recently announcing the launch of a new energy storage solution, Powerstar Virtue.

A pioneering system, it is the direct result of the company’s leading-edge research and development programme and the latest addition to the award-winning Powerstar range of solutions.

Powerstar Virtue uses the unique, patented Powerstar voltage optimisation technology and harnesses the induced negative power feedback to the supply, to charge a storage medium. The energy savings made from the voltage optimisation system are diverted into the Powerstar Virtue energy storage system, which can be used at the most beneficial time to the electricity user.

EMSc, via its Powerstar brand, also recently announced a further expansion into the USA, which is seen as a major growth market - particularly for Powerstar Virtue - signing three new distribution agreements with Ketchum & Walton from Ohio, Arizona based E3 Technologies and Maryland company Facility Resource Group.

Whilst the company has already set up five distribution partnerships that stretch across the entire region, it is continuing to identify further opportunities and plans to open an office in the territory before the end of the year.

Dr. Alex Mardapittas founder of EMSc and inventor of the Powerstar voltage optimisation range of products commented, “It is very rewarding to have our success recognised by reports like BHP’s. We have had an exciting 12 months and we plan to continue, for the foreseeable future, to invest in R&D and to manufacture our products in our home town of Sheffield.”
