Will Homeplus Furniture Chatham be next to close?
After Tesco, WH.Smiths and The Trafalgar Center closing down in Chatham, will Homeplus furniture be the next to close?
There is no official confirmation that this store will close, however, could this be next on the list? Homeplus furniture is built on the same complex as the Tesco superstore and was previously the market hall for the 1970’s building. This was then converted into the furniture store which now has two other stores across Kent, one in Chatham’s Dockside Outlet Center and another in Ashford. The store could possibly close if the site is purchased buy a developer. There has already been a lot of interest on the site of the Tesco complex, which is owned by Medway Council, days after the store closed.
The Tesco store has been in decline and investment on this whole complex was shifted to other sites. Could this be the next closure? Only time will tell.
