Northern Counties Kidney Research Fund ladies cinema screening
Anna-Maria Steel (committee member of NCKRF), Katie Gorwits and Eugenia Betsabe Gutierrez are postgraduate students at Newcastle University Business School working as a team on behalf of the Northern Counties Kidney Research Fund (NCKRF). NCKRF an important registered charity based in Newcastle Upon Tyne aiming to raise funds and award grants in the north of England for research into all aspects of kidney disease, kidney transplantation and its treatment in children and adults. NCKRF work closely with the Newcastle University Development Trust and since 1970 has endowed seven tenured research posts within the Medical school at Newcastle University as well as the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital.
NCKRF are hosting a ladies cinema screening at Tyneside Cinema on Thursday the 23rd of April, a sell out event which has been kindly sponsored by Prosafe, a global company within the oil and gas sector. Andy Brown a representative from Prosafe and a kidney transplant patient himself will be speaking at the event about his experience of having a life changing operation and how it has changed his life. Through Prosafes generous sponsorship of the NCKRF event they are supporting kidney research within the North East of England, specifically Newcastle upon Tyne.
Prosafe are a global company being the world’s leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels. The oil and gas sector is known to be heavily male dominated and want more women to work and become involved within the sector. By Prosafe sponsoring the ladies only event, they are also supporting and encouraging woman, as well as female employees within the oil and gas sector.
With the North East of England as a global hub for the oil and gas sector it is imperative that the support for local people, businesses and charities are supported and work together. We hope that by Prosafe supporting the NCKRF ladies cinema screening they will promote the North East as a center for kidney research and as a key regional oil and gas hub.
