Coventry Patients Sport 'Pearly Whites' In Response To New Children's Book

One of the leading dental practices in Coventry has today launched its very own children’s book, aimed at helping both parents and children throughout the County, have a positive experience at the dentist.

The brainchild of Mr Bhandal, of Bhandal Dental Practice, based on Foleshill Road, the new book was commissioned as a direct response to more and more patients coming through its doors, who had a moderate to severe fear of the dentist and as an NHS practice, wanted to help combat this from an early age.

The new book called Ralphie Rabbit and the Achy Tooth, features Mr Bhandal himself and tells the story of a rabbit who is afraid of the dentists.

Mr Bhandal, said: “We decided to create the book because we believe that, if tackled young, this fear can be fully eradicated. Children will pick up on fear quickly, and in many cases inherit this fear from their parents, so it is important that all parties work together- This new book is a fantastic way of achieving this synergy.”

The surgery, which has five other practices throughout Coventry, has so far been praised in its active efforts to improve patient experience, and the new book is now available to download as a PDF on its website. The practice has also sent books out to over 300 nurseries and primary schools throughout the area.

Charlotte Price (36) is a mother to three boys, she said: “I think that the new book is a great idea because dental care is so important to children. A book showing children that the dentist isn’t scary, and is instead a helpful experience, is fantastic. As a mum, getting my children to the dentist can be hard work, and I would welcome anything that helps me to overcome this.”

Mr Bhandal Added: “We hope that our new book will be greatly received by both the families and children of Coventry. It is very important that children have a positive experience at the dentist, so that it doesn’t become an issue going forwards. Even if this book only helps a handful of our patients, its commission was extremely worthwhile.”
