Northumberland printer wins £2.3m national contracts
A Northumberland-based business has won over £2.3m of new contracts from national retailers in the past three months.
Will Skelchy, Managing Director of Cramlington-based retail display specialist, B Print, has invested over £4.6m in digital presses, finishing, new technology and software over the last two years to help secure new business.
The company benefitted from an RGF grant of £360k provided by Arch, The Northumberland Development Company, to enable the purchase of two new HP digital presses, which has led to the creation of 36 new jobs.
B Print’s successes have been further cemented as it has just been named supplier of the year for the second time by a major, long-standing client.
Established in 1981 as a traditional printing business, Will Skelchy took over the reins in 1998 and as a result it quickly grew to cover print, litho and digital technologies.
Within 18 months of being run by him, B Print was named one of the country’s fastest growing companies. The business handles all of its client’s requirements from initial design, printing and the follow-on logistics to distributing products and promotional material all around the country.
Will said: “We are at a tremendously exciting time in our company’s development with massive potential for growth through our existing clients and also new business.
“Arch’s team have been extremely helpful to us and supported our development plan, ensuring we create jobs in the Northumberland area.”
Peter McIntyre, Arch Group Managing Director said: “B Print is held in high-regard nationally by its blue chip retail clients. This is fantastic news for Northumberland as that opinion translates into a substantial order book.
“The business is a prime example of how to grow a company by offering a first class service and matching that with the right technology.”
As well as its burgeoning order book and investment in equipment, B Print’s ambitions are being further exploited with a London office now open, to help service its clients in the capital. The business is also looking to grow further by acquiring companies which will complement its business strategy.
Will Skelchy added: “The whole operation has been virtually re-invented in the last two years as part of our mission to service our clients in the best possible way. In retailing there is often a need to respond quickly to a competitor.
“Our two, new, flat bed digital presses are state of the art technology in terms of both flexibility and speed and help us meet our clients’ demands 24/7.”
