Rise in patients leads to New Clinic

A rise in the number of new mums and pregnant mums enquiring as to how osteopathy can help them and their newborns has led to the beginning of a series of regular sessions, giving both practical advice and treatments.

So, if you’re desperate for a night’s sleep because your new baby is keeping you up, if your back is troubling you or you are suffering with morning sickness, an informal presentation by the experienced team at Wadsworth Osteopaths could be the answer to your prayers.

Wadsworth Osteopaths, based in Cottingham, Beverley, Driffield, Hedon and Hull, is inviting all new mums and pregnant mums to a special talk about how osteopathy can help relieve the aches and pains caused by weight and posture changes during pregnancy as well as problems that can crop up after giving birth. Directly after the presentation, 4 free fifteen minute consultations will be available.

Robert Wadsworth, Senior Osteopath at Wadsworth Osteopaths, said:

“Osteopathic treatment during pregnancy is not new. For many years we have used our skills to help, employing a variety of gentle techniques to ease supporting muscles and ligaments.

“Of course, every pregnancy is ‘special’. We focus on the mother as a person and take account of her emotional, as well as her physical, condition. We can also advise on positions during labour to help prevent back problems later.”

The presentation will cover a number of topics including Relaxin, the hormonal softening of ligaments during pregnancy, Postural adaptation, Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (also known as Pelvic Girdle Pain), Childbirth and Postnatal issues, like bending, lifting, back & neck pain and fatigue. They will also explain how osteopathy can help babies who are having difficulty sleeping or feeding or if they are suffering with colic.

Maxine McFarland, Expectant Mothers Clinic Lead, said:

“Osteopathic treatment throughout pregnancy is a wonderfully gentle way of helping the body adapt to the changes which are taking place. The safety of the mother and baby is our first concern. After a thorough assessment, osteopathic treatment may help to relieve the aches and pains caused by growth in size of the baby. We can also advise you how to change your posture and use your body correctly throughout your pregnancy.”

The presentation is taking place on Tuesday 12th May, between 6 and 7.30pm, at the Holly House Clinic, 199 Hull Road, Cottingham, HU6 8RG. Places are limited, so please telephone Wadsworth Osteopaths on 01482 875004 to confirm your seat.
