Sheffield Wednesday teams with Leeds Bradford Airport in new deal
Sheffield Wednesday has kicked off a new partnership with Leeds Bradford Airport.
As part of the new deal, Leeds Bradford is now the football club’s Official Airport Partner and will join the SWFC Commercial Partners Programme.
During the official announcement, Wednesday also promised that fans will receive “exclusive flight offers and competitions.”
The Yorkshire airport caters for more than 3.3 million passengers every year, and offers flights to 65 direct destinations around the world.
Airliners operating annually include British Airways, KLM, Aer Lingus, Monarch and Thomson.
Paul Bell, chief operating officer at Hillsborough, said: “We are delighted to welcome Leeds Bradford Airport to the Sheffield Wednesday Commercial Partners Programme as our Official Airport Partner.
“Leeds Bradford Airport is a strong and successful regional airport serving the business and leisure sectors. The airport has grown rapidly over recent years with new airlines and routes and this partnership will see a range of activities and competitions in which our supporters can participate.”
John Parkin, chief executive officer of Leeds Bradford Airport, added: “As a lifelong Owls fan, I’m personally delighted to be working in partnership with Sheffield Wednesday as Leeds Bradford becomes Wednesday’s Official Airport Partner.
“I look forward to welcoming many Wednesdayites to Leeds Bradford for their holiday and business flights in the future.”
Glenn Loovens, Sheffield Wednesday club captain also commented: “Leeds Bradford is an ideal location for people who live in Sheffield. I fly from there as it is close by, offers excellent value and has flexible flight times.
“It is pleasing to see the club working closely with such an established airport brand and for our supporters to benefit from regular offers as a result of the partnership.”
