Your Derwent & Solway reopens £10k Regeneration Fund

Your Derwent & Solway, part of Your Housing Group, one of the UK’s largest housing associations, has announced it has reopened its Regeneration Fund for the third year running. A total of £10,000 is available to local community groups for projects that make a difference to the lives of people in Your Housing Group communities in Allerdale including Workington, Wigton, Maryport, Silloth, Cockermouth and Keswick.

Over the past 3 years a total of £25,000 has been awarded to over 10 projects, including residents’ associations, youth organisations, older people’s groups, community groups and schools. Last year successful projects included school allotments, funds for local rugby and football clubs, a pensioners’ party to help introduce new club members, a tenants’ association award to help forge community links and a range of sessions to improve residents’ health and wellbeing including yoga, mindfulness, shopping on a budget and meditation.

Community groups are invited to apply for up to £1,000 over the course of a full year to support local projects in Allerdale. This could be through increasing participation in activities, offering volunteering opportunities, or putting on an event which brings the community together. Groups who have applied to the fund in the past are welcome to re-apply.

Katharine Dunbar, Community Projects Officer for Your Derwent & Solway, said; “The Scrutiny Panel is made up of our residents. The Regeneration Fund enables this panel to choose local community groups that make a difference to people who live in Your Derwent & Solway homes and communities. If you are part of a project, or have a new idea that will benefit the community we want to hear from you.“

Dawn Clark, Community Projects Manager for Your Housing Group said: ’The Regeneration Fund has always been popular and demand is expected to be high once again. This is a challenging time for many voluntary organisations, so a much needed cash injection from the Fund could help them sustain and expand the good work they do across our communities. We look forward to receiving funding applications for some creative and innovative projects in our area.“

Deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 26th June.

Priority will be given to projects which primarily benefit Your Derwent & Solway residents.
