North East entertainment hub celebrates twentieth year
Newcastle-based entertainment venue Metro Radio Arena is celebrating its 20th year in business, since opening its doors in November 1995.
The venue was the brainchild of ‘The Animals’ band members Chas Chandler and Nigel Stanger and has since established itself as an entertainment hub of not only Newcastle but the North East of England.
With the landmark in mind, the arena recently renewed its naming sponsorship deal for a further two years, making this the longest Naming Rights partnership deal in the North East.
Now the venue, which hosts events from concerts to sporting spectacles, has built a continually growing brand presence capable of attracting global stars such as Take That and One Direction.
Attracting around 650,000 people through its doors this year, the venue brings a considerable footfall of tourism to the region.
Paul Tappenden, General Manager said “The venue has been a valuable asset to the North East region over the past 20 years, attracting some amazing events such as Pavarotti. Mamma Mia, Les Miserable along with Meat Loaf, George Michael and Dolly Parton.
“This year is about celebrating that achievement so far. We have some great promotion running throughout the year and encourage you all to get involved”
Nichola McKenna Marketing and Commercial Manager said “We are asking customers to tell us about their Arena memories over the past 20 years, #Livesince95. We have already had some great stories coming in and it is wonderful to hear how we have been part of people’s lives.
