The Brink named finalist in E3 Business Awards
Revolutionary Liverpool venue The Brink has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2015 E3 Business Awards.
After beating off stiff competition from across the North West, the popular Parr Street venue has secured a place in the Social Enterprise of the Year category, due to its efforts in delivering support to the recovery community.
As one of five finalists in the prestigious category, The Brink is set to attend the glittering awards ceremony that will be held at the Macron Stadium in Bolton on Thursday, June 11.
Head of Service at Action on Addiction Merseyside, Karen Hemmings said: “It gives us a great sense of pride and achievement even just to make it to this stage as a finalist in the renowned 2015 E3 Business Awards.
“Whilst The Brink has evolved into much more than social initiative over the years as a result of its holistic approach – the team’s primary focus remains with the recovery community. Our staff members continue to work hard in providing a safe and supportive space for people seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction and to help people restore their lives and develop their social wellbeing.
“With this in mind, it’s fantastic to have the team’s dedication and efforts recognised on such a wide scale.“
Since opening in 2011, The Brink has helped more than 2,700 addicts to rebuild their lives and has created 18 new jobs and 15 volunteer positions, with 70% of these going to people in recovery. The Brink has also been held up as an example of best practice for other cities looking to set up similar projects.
Karen added: “In the past, the North West has been given a bad reputation when it comes to alcohol and drugs. However, we are helping to redefine this matter by providing an inclusive venue and a range of programmes to aid positive life transformations within the local community.
“Given the large number of high calibre of entries, we are honoured to have secured a finalist position, and we hope that our forward thinking and varied array of creative social initiatives will stand out from the crowd and wow the judging panel.“
