Heating specialist employee fired up for charity

An employee from HCS Mechanical Services, has braved fire, bogs and barbed wire to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research and Support (BTRS).

Paige Derbyshire, an administrator from Romanby, Northallerton, joined over 2000 participants in the gruelling Yorkshire Warrior Challenge race and has so far raised over £600 for the charity.

The notoriously tough annual event, which took place on 18th April, encompassed a 10-mile obstacle race across rugged Yorkshire countryside. Competitors navigated hills, waded through bogs and crawled half a mile underground, whilst also facing challenges involving fire, ice, barbed wire and electric fences.

Paige said: “It was really tough, but when you consider that 1,000 people across are region are diagnosed with brain tumours each year, 50 of these being children, it put the challenges of the race into perspective.”

Vicky Wilson, finance director at HCS Mechanical Services, a third generation family business, said: “We are so proud of Paige. BTRS is a cause close to all our heart as one of our colleagues has had personal experience of dealing with a brain tumour, and this year it is our nominated charity of the year.”

A champion of giving back to its local communities, HCS Mechanical provides private, commercial and industrial customers with a wide range of plumbing and heating services; including maintenance and installations, 24hr breakdown cover and landlord safety checks and certification.
