Jobs lost as Tesco Homeplus near Preston to close
Tesco is to close the last six of its Homeplus stores, with the loss of 450 jobs.
One of the stores is based in Walton-le-Dale near Preston.
A Tesco spokesman said to the Guardian: “We’ve taken the difficult decision to close our remaining six Homeplus stores.
“Our priority is now to explain what this announcement means for our colleagues and wherever possible, offer them alternative roles with Tesco.”
Last month the store posted £6.4bn in losses, the worst in the history of the supermarket.
Tesco has already closed 43 unprofitable stores and has announced a restructure of its head office.
