Farmers and businesses urged to attend seminar

An award-winning firm is to show farmers and firms in East Yorkshire how solar power can transform their operations and cut their fuel bills – as well as boosting their ’green’ credentials.

Discover Energy will be throwing open the doors of their new Beverley offices for a day of events that will deliver the answers to questions that businesses and farmers may have about the potential of installing solar PV panels.

The day will begin at 7.30am on Thursday 28 May with a session to meet the entire Discover Energy team and run until the final session at 4.30pm.

The solar energy experts will be running ‘bite-size’ sessions to explain how businesses in agriculture and industry in Hull and East Yorkshire can profit by installing solar panels and reduce their energy bills.

Of particular interest to farmers will be a guided tour of a large ground-mounted installation on a nearby farm to see how effective solar PV panels are.

Martin Bleasby, of Discover Energy, said: “With so many businesses in East Yorkshire thinking about installing solar PV panels it makes sense to have a series of events that will deliver different information to the audience.

“We are renowned for our honest and transparent approach and the seminar’s delegates will also get the chance to speak with other experts in their field such as in finance and law who will explain how firms can benefit.”

The events at the Discover Energy solar power for farmers and businesses open day are:

7.30am - Meet the installation team

The perfect chance to meet electricians, roofers and ground mount civil engineers before they head off to site for the day. Ideal for anyone with installation-specific questions or who would just like to informally meet the install teams. Bacon butties will be available!

8.30am - Is solar still viable?

A seminar designed to give a brief overview of solar PV and relevant industry updates.

10.30am - Large scale and ground mount solar opportunities

This seminar will provide attendees with an update on the opportunities still available with large scale solar PV panels.

12.30pm - Getting the most out of your solar PV system

The seminar covers the information and knowledge necessary to get the most out of an existing solar PV installation and grid connection. Topics will cover how to maintain and increase the system’s performance, performance evaluation, warranties and the new technology helping to maximise a PV system.

1.30pm - Meet the experts

An open session where visitors have the opportunity to speak directly with the relevant experts – including those from banks, accountants, solicitors and solar PV installation.

2.30pm - Before you commit - Don’t be blinded by science!

This seminar will touch on technical aspects demonstrating how to predict PV production and the dangers associated with poorly designed systems. Our seminar will show that a logical mind and basic understanding are all that is needed.

4.30pm - Stronger as a team

A seminar aimed at educating partnering industries such as architects, energy assessors, land consultants, accountancy and legal practices.

Installing solar PV panels is becoming increasingly popular for businesses and farmers keen to cut energy costs and do their bit for the environment.

Discover Energy is a fast-expanding business which picked up a major award at the Humber Renewables and Green Energy Awards who recently acknowledged the firm’s ‘inspiring hard work’ and efforts to promote the benefits of solar energy power.

Mr Bleasby added: “This is a rare opportunity for any business in East Yorkshire who is wondering whether they should invest in renewable energy by installing solar PV panels to have all of their questions answered in one place.”
