EasyJet to cut Manchester to Moscow flights as demand declines

Budget airline EasyJet will be scrapping its Manchester-Moscow route from October due to declining demands for the flight.

EasyJet became became the first major budget airline to link Moscow to Western Europe in 2012 however it had already halved the number of its flights connecting Moscow to London and Manchester.

The declining passenger numbers has been attributed to an economy under pressure due to Western sanctions and the low price of oil, Russia’s main export.

EasyJet’s press service said in an e-mail printed in the Moscow Times: “EasyJet can confirm that from 23rd October 2015 it will cease to operate its Manchester to Moscow service.

“ This is in response to the reduction in demand to and from Russia in recent months.“

The route may be reintroduced at a later time.
