888 in bid to acquire online gambling rival bwin.party digital entertainment
Following recent press speculation with regards to an offer for bwin.party by 888, the board of 888 has issued a statement stating that there is ‘significant industrial logic’ for the two to combine.
The gambling company 888 has submitted a proposal for the acquisition of the entire issued and to be issued share capital of rivals bwin.party for consideration comprising cash and 888 shares.
However, due to the size of the transaction, the move requires the approval of 888 shareholders.
888 will provide a further update within due course.
bwin.party is partnered with Manchester United and recently launched a casino appwith the football club.
