DJ Tim Healey opens ‘boho bistro’ in Brighton city centre

Professional DJ-turned-entrepreneur Tim Healey has opened a new restaurant in Brighton City Centre.

Leisure property specialist Fleurets acted on behalf of Healey and his wife in the acquisition of the property in the North Laine area of Brighton city centre.

Tim Healey said: “We spent months searching online and meeting various commercial property agents, and viewing various premises in the Brighton area, and then we met Fleurets. Kate is super-professional and dedicated to helping you get that all important premises. In summary, we could not recommend her more highly.”

Situated in the heart of the North Laine, Kooks is set to become the latest new independent which makes up the eclectic mix of food and beverage operations in the city that make it so unique.

Kate Dowd of Fleurets commented: ‘With demand for Brighton sites higher than ever, many of the recent transactions I have been involved with occur off market and it is that knowledge of operators and the local market which can give you the edge’.

On acquiring this unit, Healey said: “My wife and I feel its a privilege to be opening our new restaurant in Gardner Street - we’ve lived in Brighton for 16 years and we love this city - we choose the name Kooks Restaurant because we aim to celebrate the creative and eccentric people that make this city great.

“We will be the city’s home-from-home - a boho bistro - serving breakfast from 10am until late, lunch and dinner, seven days a week - with an extensive bar and an inspirational soundtrack. We’re delighted to be part of the exciting Brighton food scene and the fabulously independent North Laine trading community.”
