Topping out at successful Cardinal Park, Southampton
Barratt has celebrated the “topping out” of Cardinal Park, its highly successful development in Maybush, Southampton.
More than 40 guests from the construction industry attended the ceremony which signifies an important milestone in the life of the scheme.
A total of 141 homes are being created by the five star builder on the site of the former Ordnance Survey headquarters in the city. Features of the homes include traditional looking exteriors to complement the surroundings together with modern and airy interiors and flexible layouts. The development also boasts a children’s play area and a public work of art.
Pete Scott, Barratt’s award winning contracts manager at the development, conducted the ceremony by unveiling a plaque on a gable end. He said: “The topping out is an important milestone for Cardinal Park and a sign that we are another step closer to full completion. I would like to thank everyone who played their part in ensuring that we created a lovely community, complete with open spaces and superb homes in which people can live.”
Barratt sales director Michelle Storer said the development was good news for the whole city. “Economically the scheme has been a great success. Sales have been really encouraging as home owners have recognised the exceptional value we offer. And over its lifetime it will have helped to sustain 280 local jobs including valuable opportunities for apprentices.”
The development of two, three and four bedroom properties includes 49 affordable homes which were built by Aster Homes, which has its regional office in Romsey.
Aster’s project manager Richard Toomer said: “We enjoy an excellent working relationship with Barratt and are delighted with the outcome. Cardinal Park is a development we can all be very proud of.”
