£1.25m Yorkshire Dales farmhouse offers purchasers rare ‘try before you buy’ option

A restored Victorian Yorkshire Dales farmhouse, along with luxury holiday accommodation, has been put on the market with an unusual ‘try before you buy’ offer to potential purchasers.

With a £1.25m price tag, Wigglesworth House near Settle and two holiday cottages have been significantly renovated by current owners, Tony and Amy Wroe, who have resided in the main house for nearly ten years.

Together, the two holiday cottages produce an annual income of around £45k and the two and three-bedroomed properties have been awarded the highest, five-star gold rating by the Yorkshire Tourist Board.

Potential buyers of the property are being provided with the opportunity to spend a night in one of the cottages to experience a night in the yorkshire tourist destination.

Located in the countryside between the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the east and the Forest of Bowland to the west, the property also boasts an impressive panoramic view of Yorkshire and Lancashire.

After purchasing the properties, Mr and mrs Wroe restored and extended the farmhouse, Wigglesworth House, which dates back to 1881, as well as converting a barn close to the house to luxury holiday accommodation and adding a second cottage.

Construction was used with local materials to the highest specifications, and the whole project took the couple three years to complete.

Amy Wroe said: “We first came up here on a beautiful summer’s day and were immediately captivated. It would have hardly mattered what the house itself was like because we knew immediately that we had discovered a very special place and that we would buy the property.”

Toby Cockcroft of Croft Residential, which is marketing the property, said: “The properties are all immaculately presented, oozing character and charm and set in the most spectacular countryside. It’s hard to imagine the beauty of the views and the wow factor of all three properties without experiencing them, and so we hope that a night’s stay here will cause a potential buyer to fall in love with Wigglesworth House and the cottages, just as Mr and Mrs Wroe did a decade ago.”
