Historic 19th Century Morpeth property brought to market
Oswald House, a historic 19th century building on Bridge Street in Morpeth, has been put up for sale.
Naylors Chartered Surveyors are responsible for selling the property, formerly occupied by Louis Johnson Auctioneers, at an asking price of £395k.
After years of trading, Louis Johnson Auctioneers finally closed its doors three years after its founder passed away.
The 4,000sq.ft three-storey building was converted to commercial use in the 1970s, retaining many features of the period. A rear extension was added in the 1980’s which provides open plan accommodation on two floors and the property benefits from a private rear car park.
Simon Taylor, head of office agency at Naylors, said: “Oswald House is an iconic building in a prominent position. It would suit a number of different uses and presents an excellent opportunity for a refurbishment project to change of use.
“It could potentially be split into residential upper floors with commercial or leisure use on the ground floor. It has been priced very reasonably and we anticipate significant interest.”
