Mechan secures industry accolade
Sheffield manufacturer, Mechan, has bagged a prestigious Railtex Award after receiving industry recognition for its “unrivalled range of depot maintenance equipment.”
The lifting and handling specialist was presented with the rolling stock maintenance equipment prize at this year’s international railway systems exhibition, Railtex.
Mechan saw off competition from a varied field of shortlisted companies to secure the award, which recognises products and services that enhance rail vehicle availability and reliability.
Lee Pitts, Mechan’s sales manager, said: “It is an honour to have our hard work, innovation and achievements acknowledged by fellow professionals. All of our competitors play a vital role in rail vehicle performance and we were really pleased to triumph in such a closely fought category. Bringing home the award topped off our most successful Railtex exhibition yet and we thoroughly enjoyed catching up with so many colleagues from across the industry.”
Railtex 2015 was held at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre in May. Mechan experienced a 15% increase in visitors to its stand, due to greater visibility and the full size, fully operational lifting jack it was demonstrating for the first time. The firm also presented a seminar, focusing on modern methods of wheel monitoring, that was well received by delegates and resulted in a number of new enquiries about its laser measuring devices.
