Yorkshire accountant achieves national status
Easingwold based accountant, Lydia Ebdon is celebrating her selection to the National Council for the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England & Wales. (ICAEW)
Lydia will be one of two Council members representing West and North Yorkshire.
The selection to Council is a great achievement for Lydia who has twenty years experience in accountancy, working with a wide range of businesses and industries, from start ups to multi nationals. She will be one of the youngest members to join.
The role will allow her to put something back into her profession and help develop its strategy for the future, whilst applying the knowledge and experience to her own Chartered Accountancy business, Approachable Accountants Ltd based in Easingwold.
As past president of the York Society of Chartered Accountants, Lydia will represent her colleagues in the region, meeting on Council four times a year at Chartered Accountants Hall near Moorgate in London.
The Council agrees ICAEW’s strategy and budget and selects its Council members with nominations and elections from institute members.
Lydia’s four year term will begin in June when she will attend a black tie dinner at Chartered Accountants Hall as well as a service of dedication at the church of St Margaret’s, in the shadow of the Bank of England.
Lydia said:
“I am thrilled to be joining the Council and to represent Yorkshire members. I relish the opportunity to help develop ICAEW strategy during an exciting period of change with many opportunities and challenges, such as from new entrants, globalization and technology.
I’m keen to help ensure our profession continues to justify public confidence.“
Regional ICAEW Director Chris Manners added:
“I have worked closely with Lydia for several years and greatly admire some of the work she has done to help promote the profession in York. She has valuable experience and I am sure she will be an asset to Council.”
As part of the National Council, Lydia will help steer the profession and will share her understanding of the issues and pressures currently facing small businesses and personal tax clients.
Lydia will join the Council as the ICAEW celebrates its 135th anniversary, and welcomes only the second female deputy President in its history.
