Google's Classroom App Gets an Update
For many of us, the act of going to school meant having to listen to adults telling us exactly what to do each and every minute, which eventually led to us hating each and every one of those minutes. Assuming your weren’t some kind of prodigy. But, the truth is that movie clichés haven’t been doing a great job at keeping up with the progress of modern technology, especially the technology which is used in the schooling system. As a result, today kids go to school with a smile on their face and eyes filled with hope for a bright new tomorrow.
One such advancement in school room technology is Google Classroom, which enables teachers to collect and grade school assignments. A year ago, the company marked Teacher Appreciation Week in the US by announcing of its new service called Google Classroom. And just recently, Google put its party hat back on for yet another Teacher Appreciation Week, and announced of some of the major updates that is going to be included in the new application.
The new updates allow teachers to grade assignments on the go and give private feedback notes to students as well. The Google new technology 2015 update now also makes it possible to create an assignment or edit one from their phones or tablet devices while on the go, along with making personalized copies for their students as well. According to reports, the assignments or posts can be created through photographs that have been taken on your device, making it a lot easier to upload anything that the teacher has written on the whiteboard during a class.
The Google Classroom service is a system which has been built around the company’s project, “App for Education,” which is a productivity suite which basically allows the teacher to create assignments directly within Google apps, which the students can then complete by using Google Docs and turn them in via an extremely easy, one-click process.
According to Google, since the apps unveiling a year ago, more than 70 million assignments have been created using the app, while Google’s App for Education program has managed to amass around 40 million users which comprises of both teachers and students. According to other sources, over 2.3 million people have downloaded the application from the Chrome web store, while the Android Play Store has reported that there have been around 1 million downloads of the application thus far.
According to education experts, while the previous version of the classroom application allows students to do work from almost anywhere without restricting them by physical barriers, keeping that in mind, the recent Google latest technology is designed more towards easing the workload for the teachers, taking away some of the pressure and making their work a bit easier.
For the past eight months or so, ever since the Classroom app was released, Google has reportedly had a team of experts who have been dedicated to observe the working habits of the teachers who use the application, which ultimately led to the new updates being included in the service. Ever since its roll out, the Classroom app has had no less than 20 new feature updates which has turned the application into a useful tool for school teachers around the world.
According to a Google executive, the app was initially built because Google saw the need of a tool that would be useful for both students and teachers. This was made possible after months of research done with the help of both teachers and professors, which later on helped the company come up with a teacher application which was truly useful in the school environment.
As for Google Classroom, the company has just got started and is definitely on track to create an even more teacher centric application which will ultimately help in the checking and grading system which is a strenuous process to begin with. Google is going to work on more ways in which it will be able to design an even better Classroom application which will press on all the pain points of the teacher and make their job easier.
