SAScon launches SASchool for students
The team behind the UK’s largest search, analytics and social media conference, SAScon, have launched a new event specifically for students looking to break into the digital industry.
SASchool is a one day event consisting of introductory training from leading practitioners of search, analytics and social media, providing students with insights into the industry, as well as teaching them some of the tricks and tips of the trade and highlighting areas of good practice.
Taking place on 10 June 2015 from 9.30am, at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, SASchool will feature talks from two highly regarded keynotes from the industry. Ben McKay, managing director at MEC Organic Performance and former head of SEO and social media at MoneySupermarket, is the first keynote speaker of the day and will be talking about how to future proof digital marketing skills.
With over a decade of experience in SEO and digital marketing, Barry Adams, an award-winning SEO and digital strategy consultant has been announced as the second keynote speaker and he will be exposing the tech industry’s hypocrisy in his session called “Do as we say, not as we do.”
The day will also comprise of five informative sessions on keyword research, on page and site optimisation, how to manage PPC, how to do offsite optimisation and how to do proper social media marketing. This will be interspersed with networking opportunities with top industry experts and employers who are seeking talent for their search, analytics and social media marketing roles, and a post event drinks reception.
SASchool is a unique opportunity for aspiring marketers, PRs, advertisers, designers and coders currently studying, or just completing, their undergraduate or postgraduate studies. The event is only open to students currently studying in a UK university and to gain entry to the conference they must have a valid student ID from a university.
David Edmundson-Bird, principal lecturer in digital and social media communications and associate director for digital innovation at MMU, said: “This will be a fantastic opportunity for students looking to get into the industry but need to know a little bit more about how to do the job, and what’s involved in each part of the role. There will be a focus on SEO, paid search and the integration of social media practice as an operational activity and all of the sessions will be delivered by top industry experts so it really is an event not to be missed.”
Richard Gregory, a founder of SAScon and SASchool, said: “We decided to create this event to help develop the digital talent of the future and give them a better insight into what is a fantastic industry. We’ve got some great keynote speakers and the sessions have been developed to cover all of the key elements of search and social. We anticipate that SASchool is likely to sell out very quickly so tickets are available on a first come first served basis.”
Tickets are £10 and students interested in attending must register for the event using their official university email address ending in .ac.uk.
