Newcastle law firm advises on acquisition of Finnish game developer

Newcastle-based Watson Burton LLP has advised mobile gaming platform Palringo on the acquisition of a Finnish game developer, for an undisclosed amount.

The commercial law firm advised on the acquisition of Tribe Studios, in a move which will see Palringo strengthen its in-house games development capability.

Palringo has over 35 million downloads worldwide, with users building communities based on shared interests, particularly gaming. By using the Palringo app, users can chat and simultaneously play games either with fellow members of their community, or join forces to play against other groups.

Tribe Studios, known for its patented Dramagame technology, develops multiplayer games built around chat interaction, where players have multiple points of view and many possible outcomes based on player decisions.

The acquisition will give Palringo the ability to bring the Dramagame technology to users through its app, further strengthening its community gaming offering.
