Kidscan announces appointment of new Trustee
Salford-based children’s cancer research charity, Kidscan, has announced the appointment of leading Manchester business figure, Martin Keelagher, to its Board of Trustees.
Martin, Director at boutique venture capital and advisory firm Walford Cunningham and Hayes, will play a key role in shaping the charity’s vision, achieving vital fundraising targets and driving forward its pioneering research.
Martin, as a senior executive, has already amassed wide-ranging experience, sitting on the board of a number of charities and businesses.
Kidscan was established in 2002 with a mission to develop gentle, effective childhood cancer treatments that are kind on growing bodies and allow sufferers to live long and healthy lives. Currently, 25% of children diagnosed with cancer will not make it to their 30th birthday.
Lowri Haf Turner, Director of Development at Kidscan, said: “Martin is set to make a real impact on the charity, bringing with him fantastic skills and an incredible enthusiasm for the work that we do.
“Our Trustees play a vital part in directing the charity and ensuring that we receive the support that we need to continue in our fight against childhood cancer.”
Martin added: “I discovered Kidscan through the research projects and academic placements that it supports through its partnership with The University of Salford.
“Having had the opportunity to learn more about the unique research approach that childhood cancer requires, I wanted to support the charity in any way that I could.
“I look forward to working with my fellow trustees and the Kidscan team to ensure we meet and succeed the ambitious targets that we have set ourselves for 2015 and beyond.”
