NECC Exports on the Menu at Global Lunch

Event to celebrate region’s exporters and further boost overseas performance

THE great and good of North East exporting talent will meet to toast another great year of overseas sales and outline plans for upping the region’s game even further.

The North East Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first ever “Global Lunch”, which will welcome the region’s leading export lights and invite members to pitch ideas as to how support for businesses operating abroad can be improved.

The event is the brainchild of NECC International Trade Manager, Brian Dakers. He said: “We currently provide a fantastic support package for our businesses that are either experienced in overseas markets or are looking to explore new avenues of business.

“However, it is always dangerous to rest on your laurels and we want our members to tell us how we can be better, where are the areas that require greater support and we will do all we can to fill those gaps.

“This is a great opportunity for NECC Global members to get advice, network and gain access to more than a hundred years of experience from the International Trade Team. We’ll also outline our future Global package on the day, so any company looking to begin or improve international trade, can’t afford to miss this.”

The exclusive lunch for International members, will be held at the Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground, Chester-le-Street, on Monday 8 June and will feature a showcase of the region’s success in foreign markets throughout the past 200 years, to mark NECC’s 200th anniversary.

Brian added: “We know our customers really well and we make every effort to ensure we are as responsive to their needs as possible. However, we want them to continue to challenge us and tell us what they want.

“In the North East, we probably don’t do enough to celebrate the fact that we are the pace-setters in the country when it comes to exports. The more we celebrate this fact and the more we showcase the talent, the more other businesses will realise there’s a whole world of untapped potential out there and the support is available to help them tap into it.”
