Kwik Fit and Hankook support hospice
A charity which provides home-based hospice care will never be left feeling flat after receiving the support of the UK’s leading automotive servicing and repair company and tyre manufacturer Hankook.
For the next three years Kwik Fit will replace, free of charge, the Hankook branded tyres on all vehicles belonging to Herriot Hospice Homecare. It will also service and carry out MOTs on the vehicles.
It comes as a major boost for the charity which is now almost wholly reliant on raising its own funds to provide its services in Hambleton and Richmondshire.
Deborah Horton, Retail Area Manager for Herriot Hospice Homecare, said: “This is a fantastic gesture from Kwik Fit and Hankook and one which we are very grateful for.
“Given the size of our operating area, our vehicles cover a lot of miles each year so to not have to worry about paying for servicing, MOTs and replacing tyres is a major bonus for us.
“The money we will save via this partnership will all be redirected to the provision of our front-line services and in particular helping those people who require end of life care in their own homes.”
The work on the vehicles will be carried out at the Kwik Fit Premier Centre in Longlands Road, Middlesbrough.
Tony Morrell, Kwik Fit operations manager for the Teesside and Darlington area, said: “We’re delighted to have been involved with the Herriot Hospice and supporting the charity’s attempts to provide a top quality hospice at home service for the local community is an honour for us. We’re grateful for Hankook’s generous donation of tyres for this cause.
“Not only does Kwik Fit care about getting its local communities on the road, but we care about helping our local communities, full stop. We’re always looking to improve the maintenance knowledge of our communities too through our skills evenings, as well as improving the safety of young drivers through our recently launched New to the Road campaign and the schools events we run across the UK.”
Jong Jin Park, managing director of Hankook Tyre UK added: “Hankook takes great pride in helping people improve the lives of their communities. With the help of Kwik Fit we have been able to assist a worthy charity in providing a valuable service to people with life limiting illnesses in their own homes.”
