BIFM Celebrate World FM Day and launch ‘BrekTec’

The Ireland Region of the professional body for facilities management (FM), BIFM today celebrate World FM Day 2015 and launch a series of breakfast technical events for 2015. ‘BrekTec,’ supported by Eurest Food & Support Services, is aimed at increasing industry standards through personal development, and the skills-based series has been developed in response to increasing demand on organisations to reduce company overheads and improve services through best practice facilities management.

Events are free for all business professionals with an interest in FM and will take place bi-monthly at Cultra Manor from June to December 2015 with the first one scheduled to take place on 30th June 2015. Four key technical areas will be covered including catering, waste management, contractor management and cleaning.

Speaking at the official launch, Stephen Welch, Chair of the BIFM Ireland Region said, “Facilities management is one of the fastest growing professions in the UK and Ireland. We currently have in excess of 450 members in the Ireland Region who are responsible for many of the buildings and services that support businesses and other types of organisations across our island.

“At a time when all businesses are wishing to reduce costs, FM should be the first area to be explored as a driver to doing things differently. Our new series of events covers a wide variety of FM practice areas which will be of benefit to both FM professionals and businesses with an interest in FM. We look forward to welcoming a high calibre of speakers for each of the four events, sharing industry knowledge and advancing facilities management in Ireland.”

Margaret Campbell, Head of Operations, Eurest, says, “Eurest, part of Compass Group Ireland, Ireland’s leading food and support services companies is delighted to sponsor the BIFM BrekTec Event series. Compass Group Ireland is renowned for innovation and excellence, so it is fitting that we support FM and business professionals wishing to advance their organisations with the latest training and progressive technical skills available in Ireland. Our team is looking forward to supporting and participating in the events over the coming months.”

The BrekTec series will offer businesses and organisations the opportunity to learn, free of charge, about the latest developments in FM, best practice and most importantly how implementation can develop their business while reducing business expenditure.
