NCT Skills wins coveted CITB contract

Newcastle based training provider NCT Skills has won a much sought after contract with the Construction Industry Training Board as one of the very few Private Training Providers in the North East to deliver their highly acclaimed construction apprenticeship programme.

NCT Skills, whose specialty in construction skills apprenticeships will already see over 150 young people begin traineeships in August with a view to transferring their skills to a construction apprenticeship, beat off stiff competition from within the region to deliver this contract to young learners.

Increasingly, NCT Skills, which is already a CITB approved and accredited training centre, is being considered as the go to training provider in this sector due to high quality teaching facilities, success rate of the learners and it’s ambitious drive to make construction apprentices available to as many young people in the region as possible, without compromising on delivery.

The training provider, in order to maximize engagement opportunities outside of their immediate city centre base, has recently launched satellite training areas in Teesside, Northumberland and South Tyneside to attract new learners into the industry. This is turn will play a major part in helping young people achieve their full potential as individuals as well as, in the greater scheme of things, bridging the skills gap in the construction industry.

NCT Skills Managing Director Ian Wood said: “We’re really excited to have won this CITB contract and we can’t wait to deliver this as part of our ever increasing construction apprenticeship programme. We have worked incredibly hard to get NCT Skills to a position where we can bid successfully for national contracts and over the last six months we’ve really seen that come to fruition. We will continue to put in our very best efforts to ensure that this is relationship continues to develop and thrive, giving young people in the North East the very best opportunities when it comes to construction apprenticeships.”

NCT Skills next intake is in August and any 16-18 year olds who are interested in finding out more should text ’SKILLS’ to 62277 and a member of staff will be in touch.

Any construction businesses that are considering taking on an apprentice should speak to our Business Development Manager Corey Skeen (corey.skeen@nctskills.com) who will go through employer benefits that can help support you.
