NE Student Housing Awards Celebrate the Best
On June 4th at Newcastle’s Civic Centre Banqueting Suite the first ever North East Student Housing Award winners were announced. The Awards aim to celebrate those in the region who continuously go above and beyond legislation to deliver property, services and standards at the highest possible level with the hope of improving standards overall.
Guests at the dinner enjoyed a drinks reception and three course meal before a key note speech by North East Student Housing Awards founder, and local entrepreneur, Paul Allison. In his speech Paul called for more opportunities to acknowledge the outstanding work done by landlords, letting agents and hall companies in the North East. So often portrayed is the idea of a rogue landlord or a ruthless letting agent when the reality is most are hardworking, honest business-people with their student tenants’ best interests at heart.
The Awards were judged by industry experts from President of the Association of Residential Landlords; Valerie Bannister, to local representative from the NLA; Steve Simpson as well as student sabbatical officers from all the Region’s universities.
This year’s awards supported the Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund ‘Go Bananas’ charity appeal and a raffle on the evening raised £2700.
